The Sterile Feral Junior Volunteer League
Christmas Float wins Fifth Place
The Sterile Feral Junior Volunteer League was very
proud to participate in the 175th Rome Christmas
Parade.  This year’s theme was “An Anniversary
Christmas – Celebrating 175 Years of Christmas in
Rome.” With over 100 floats entered in this year’s
parade the Sterile Feral Christmas Float won 5th place
in the adult category thanks to all of the hard work of the
Sterile Feral Junior Volunteer League, Mary Kate
McCaffery, and TSF volunteers.

This marks the first year the Sterile Feral has
participated in the parade which coincides with the
Sterile Feral’s Ten Year Anniversary.  The float was a
white fluffy cat surrounded by children and rescued dogs.
The Sterile Feral message of spay and neuter your pets was spread to over an estimated 15,000 watching the parade.

Sterile Feral Starts TSF Junior Volunteer League
In November, TSF held the first official meeting of The Sterile Feral Junior Volunteer League.
Led by co-founder Mary Kate McCaffrey, the Junior Volunteer League is meeting at 9 am on
the first Saturday of every month to plan and participate in quarterly projects.  Look for their
first official project during the Rome Christmas parade!

The Sterile Feral has always had unofficial junior volunteers; Aubrey, Michaela, and Maddie
have logged more hours at the clinic than many of our adult volunteers.  In October, Taylor
recruited friends and designed a booth for the fair that won a ribbon!  With so many fabulous
young people already involved, Mary Kate started reflecting on ten years of work with TSF.
All of this lead her to the realization that ten years of working with feral cats will wear your
butt out!

Always a woman of action, she decided the best way to address this  problem was with a
group specifically aimed at grooming our next generation of volunteers.

For information about upcoming projects or to join the Junior Volunteer League,
call Mary Kate at 706-676-1672.

REDNECK RUMMAGE SALE
Saturday, September 26th
State Mutual Stadium

The 5th Annual Redneck Rummage Sale held at the State Mutual Stadium
was a success - thanks to everyone that came out to support the Sterile Feral.
We enjoy meeting everyone and hearing about animals that has or are
receiving help.  Several vendors at the sale were kind to donate their items
that did not sale to the TSF Thrift Store.

The participation in the Redneck Rummage Sale was a great success
because we had six volunteers there, including three new ones  who we
broke in - in true TSF fashion!  The rain held off until early afternoon, about the
time we started to break down and haul things back to the thrift store.
Needless to say, we were soaked thru to the skin!  But we earned almost
$400 to help support the animals and may have recruited one or two
new "Junior Volunteers".  And we owe Gina a HUGE thank you for opening
the thrift store open while others were so that it would not have to be closed
while we were at the sale.

All in all, the day was a success - thanks to everyone for making it happen!
