Abuse

The wound on this dog was inflicted by negligence on the part of her owner. She was
picked up by Animal Control with an embedded collar around her neck, that the staff cut
away leaving raw flesh exposed. Two of our volunteers went in and got her, took her to
our facility to clean her wounds, and found the small rope (bottom right photo)
embedded even further in than the collar was. It was so deep it was not noticable until
they began to shave and clean the wound. The fact that she was still able to eat or
drink anything is amazing. How much longer she had till a slow death of
strangulation/starvation set in, we don't know. Fortunately for her, her owners were
careless enough to allow her to run at large so her luck began the day that AC picked
her up.
Her life began the moment the two volunteers picked her up from there. She will not go
back. One of our  rescuers has fallen deeply for this sweet sweet girl, who was still
wagging her tail while in the cage at AC, and will provide her with the life of love and
comfort she has always deserved. It is a promise that she made to this girl and that is
her name. Promise.
